Welcome to BrookHighland.org. We are excited to offer information about the Brook Highland neighborhood from a resident’s perspective. This website provides answers to some frequently asked questions, contacts for critical services and links to the HOA and other websites to access critical information. It can also allow you to provide input to neighborhood management via questions, requests or surveys. This website was developed and is managed by resident members of the Brook Highland Advisory Board.
So, who is the Brook Highland Advisory Board? We are residents like you, and commit our time to meet with the HOA representatives on a periodic basis to represent residents’ concerns. The Advisory Board has no formal power but represents residents through the oversight of the HOA and communication with developers or municipalities affecting our neighborhood. Our mission is simple. We work with the HOA to increase the value of our property, provide a safe and secure environment for our families, maintain the infrastructure of the neighborhood, and keep our dues as low as possible.
I love this neighborhood and the people in it. There is no better place to live in northern, unincorporated Shelby County (and we want to keep it that way)! I moved to Brook Highland in 1998 and learned about the HOA in 2000 when I attended a neighborhood meeting among residents and our Shelby County Commissioner at the time. I was not necessarily impressed with the HOA at the time and wanted to learn more. I was subsequently adopted as a member of the Advisory Board and have been part of this group ever since. Over the years we have driven changes in HOA administration, projects, budgets and management. We have met with local politicians, developers, municipalities and area HOAs.
While the value of our neighborhood has prospered, our communication with residents has not kept pace. We no longer issue newsletters and can’t rely on organizations like the Women’s Club and Neighborhood Watch. This gap is clear from comments and misinformation that is shared on media such as NextDoor and Facebook. We hope this website will fill your void for accurate information and inspire you to get involved. We’d love to hear your ideas, represent you on issues or support you in leading initiatives to making our neighborhood great.
David Gambrell, President of Advisory Board
