Birmingham Water Works Board (BWWB) representatives met with residents on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 to discuss their Lake Purdy Dam Stability Improvement Project. Their presentation (attached) provides an overview of this project along with background on the BWWB system and the importance of Lake Purdy. This project was approved for start in November of 2024 and is scheduled to be completed in August 2028. The first part of the project will be to widen the access road that traverses from Hwy 119 to the dam, between Lake Purdy and Brook Highland (in close proximity to Wingfield Trace). This will be the primary entrance for construction, delivery and crew traffic. Their normal work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The BWWB has offered to provide us with future updates on the progress of this project, including additional meetings if needed. They also provided us with contact information in the event we have additional concerns.
