Brook Highland is a neighborhood in northern, unincorporated Shelby County, Alabama, established in 1988, developed in phases over multiple years, and was turned over to the residents for self-management in October 2022. The property is subject to the purview of the Brook Highland Homeowners Association, Inc, as governed by the corresponding Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws and Protective Covenants. The neighborhood consists of approximately 795 single-family residences. Homes are mostly 1-1/2 or 2 story, medium-sized homes with 3 to 4 bedrooms. Lot sizes are on the order of ½ acre or larger. It has public streets, with two entrances. The HOA common property consists of: a front entrance (Brick walls, decorative gate house, boulevard island, and associated landscaping). 4 cul-de-sac islands and a large vacant lot with a retention pond (not currently maintained or used for enjoyment purposes).

In the Fall of 2022, the Brook Highland Homeowners’ Association Board of Directors was transitioned to the residents from Eddleman and Associates. The HOA is managed by Neighborhood Management, LLC. Some information that may be of some value to you while settling in are:
- We are in unincorporated Shelby County (not in a city).
- We are under the Shelby County Sheriff jurisdiction.
- Cahaba Valley Fire provides our emergency and fire services/protection. These services are paid for in an annual fee – not through your property taxes.
- Our Library is located on Cahaba Valley Road (AL-119) – ½ mile west of the Middle School. There is a Library Fee which is also not covered in your property tax.
- Our children attend Shelby County Schools:
- Inverness Elementary School (Grades K-3)
- Oak Mountain Intermediate School (Grades 4-5)
- Oak Mountain Middle School (Grades 6-8)
- Oak Mountain High School (Grades 9-12)
- Our garbage service is provided by Waste Management and our pick-up day is Monday.
